In the heart of Sidama, midwife Tigist Kebede serves as the sole midwife at Odola Health Center - supporting mothers across eight kebeles with dedication, skill, and care. From sunrise deliveries to community outreach, Tigist is a lifeline for pregnant women who often face dangerous home births due to lack of access. Despite limited resources, she shows up daily to save lives and educate women about the warning signs of complications. With support from UNFPA, Tigist now has better tools, a mothers’ waiting room, and the training she needs to deliver safer births — even during the busiest nights.
