Ethiopia’s humanitarian crisis—driven by conflict, displacement, climate shocks, and collapsing health systems—continues to severely impact the lives of women and girls.
In the first quarter of 2025, UNFPA reached over 120,000 people with lifesaving support, including sexual and reproductive health services, maternal care, and gender-based violence prevention and response. Across conflict-affected regions, millions still face limited access to basic services, rising protection risks, and a resurgence of harmful practices.
Under its 2025 Humanitarian Preparedness and Response Plan, UNFPA is targeting 1.9 million people with integrated health and protection services to help restore dignity, protect rights, and ensure that no woman is left behind.
