The findings of the documentation of Good Practices and Lessons Learnt and End Evaluation of the “Prevention and Management of GBV in Ethiopia Programme” was tabled for validation today in the presence of implementing partners and development partners.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Faustin Yao, UNFPA Country Representative, said that the two documents that were presented for validation assessed the effectiveness, relevance, impact and sustainability of the implementation of the programme in fulfilling its objectives. He added that “the strategies and approaches documented in the two documents will have potential use for programming in other areas in a bigger scale.”

The Prevention and Management of GBV in Ethiopia Programme which UNFPA supported in six Regions across Ethiopia was implemented with funding from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands between 2012 and 2015. Using a human rights based, gender-responsive and culturally sensitive approach, the program sought to enhance partnerships with various stakeholders to reduce GBV and to strengthen institutional and community based initiatives providing care and support to survivors of violence.

A number of comments were forwarded from the participants in response to the findings shared in the two presentations which will be used to enrich them.

The documented good practices and lessons learnt would be synthesized into knowledge management products to be shared with key stakeholders and development partners, it was disclosed at the event.
