A three-day training was conducted on the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for reproductive health in crises for staff of the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and Regional Health Bureaus. The training held between 4 and 6 December in the Adama Town of the Oromiya Regional State was aimed at improving programme planning, response and implementation as well as enhancing resource mobilization on Sexual and Reproductive Health priorities in humanitarian and development settings. The training was jointly provided by technical people from the FMoH and UNFPA.
The training covered all the components of the MISP. It proved to be a landmark occasion in striking a strategic partnership between UNFPA, FMoH and the Regional Bureaus of Health. The training also highlighted the need to strengthen the nexus between interventions in humanitarian and development settings. Similar trainings are envisaged to be conducted in the near future.
A total of 19 participants drawn from the FMoH and Health Bureaus from the Amhara, Benishangul-Gumuz, Gambella, Oromiya, Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Regional States and the Addis Ababa City Administration took part in the training.
