Around 30 participants drawn from government offices, development partners, UN agencies, civil society organizations and institutions of higher learning participated in this consultative meeting. The meeting which was jointly organized by the National Planning Commission and UNFPA saw the presentation of the inception report by national consultants. The stakeholders who participated in the consultative meeting gave their inputs for the necessary revision and finalization of the inception report ahead of the elaboration and validation of the national review report on Addis Ababa Declaration on Population and Development @5.

The Addis Ababa Declaration on Population and Development was adopted as a continental declaration in October 2013 in Addis Ababa. Ethiopia started the review process where all the member States of the African Union Commission are expected to carry out multi-sectoral and consultative forums at the country level.

The National Planning Commission is the government organ in Ethiopia that is overseeing the national review with financial and technical support from UNFPA.
