Between July and September 2025, Ethiopia faced overlapping crises—including renewed conflict along the Somali–Oromia border, floods across five regions, and seismic events in Afar and Oromia—that displaced hundreds of thousands and disrupted access to health and protection services. UNFPA reached nearly 259,000 people with lifesaving sexual and reproductive health care and 127,000 individuals with gender-based violence prevention and response services through mobile clinics, safe spaces, and community outreach. Major milestones included the rollout of the GBVIMS+ system across 96 sites and the launch of Ethiopia’s first National GBV Case Management Guideline, advancing survivor-centered care nationwide. However, with only 26% of the required US$38 million humanitarian funding secured, urgent support is needed to sustain essential services and uphold the rights, health, and dignity of women and girls across affected regions.
