This International Day of the Girl, UNFPA in Ethiopia handed the microphone to three remarkable girls, Rakeb Kassahun, Rediet Dawit, and Solyana Hagos, whose ideas and determination remind us what happens when girls are given the space to dream, create, and lead.
At just 12 to 14 years old, these girls are proving that innovation has no age limit.
Rakeb is a brilliant student with a curious mind and an unshakable belief in the power of learning. Her passion for knowledge drives her to explore new ideas and push beyond whatβs expected for her age.
Rediet, 14, has developed an agricultural robotics technology that allows farmers to control the watering of their crops directly from their phones. Her invention is rooted in her desire to make life easier for farmers and contribute to smarter, more sustainable agriculture.
Solyana, 12, created a smart sensor blind stick that assists visually impaired individuals to move safely and independently. Her innovation reflects both empathy and creativity, seeing a challenge and designing a solution that transforms lives.
Throughout the week, Rakeb, Rediet, and Solyana took over UNFPA Ethiopiaβs social media platforms to share their stories, inspirations, and dreams for the future. Their voices represent the promise of a generation that is bold, connected, and ready to lead Ethiopiaβs digital transformation.
Their stories remind us why investing in girlsβ education, innovation, and digital access matters, because when girls lead, everyone moves forward.
